More Than A Selfie

The photographs in this on-line exhibition are self-portraits by six photographers represented by Lee Marks Fine Art.

Some have made self-portraits the primary focus in their work (Jen Davis).  Several consider their own portrait as a separate facet of their photographic repertoire (Gus Powell, Nina Korhonen, Mariana Cook, Tony Mendoza).  Others create indirect portraits through shadows and reflections (Mariana Cook, Mike Smith, Tony Mendoza).  Some focus on parts of the body to represent the whole person (Tony Mendoza, Mariana Cook).  Others choose to portray themselves interacting with family and friends (Powell, Cook, Mendoza, Davis).  The last photograph in the show pictures Gus Powell’s foot encased in a dirty white-buck, which is his Instagram handle.

None of these photographs were made with a cell phone.
